Everyone’s Journey is Different
There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution in healthcare because we are all unique. We all live, work, play, and go to school in different environments. For example, someone might work around chemicals. Someone else may have grown up in home containing lead paint. Someone else may have gone to school in a building that had water damage, leading to mold exposure. Someone may live near a golf course where chemicals and pesticides are routinely sprayed. Someone might live near a freeway or high-tension wires. The air, soil, water, and environment are different in different communities. Some communities have fluoride in their water, others do not. Some communities are subject to wildfires. Some are rural, some are industrial. For this reason, finding the root cause of illness might be completely different for two individuals who suffer with the same disease.
Not only is the environment a factor, but lifestyle choices are also a factor. Some people like to blame the condition of their health on genetics, but through the process of cellular methylation, “bad” genes can be turned off. The condition of their health is likely due to the fact that families live in the same household environment, and share many of the same dietary habits. Everyone in the household eats out of the same refrigerator or pantry. What’s in there?
I find it perplexing that medical professionals break their practices into different “specialties” when the body works together as a unit. Symptoms cross different systems of the body. Seizures? Headaches? Breathing problems? These can be caused by a multitude of different things. I understand that by breaking up into specialties, these doctors can spent more time diving deep within a particular subject. There are definitely advantages to that, but I’m still not sure this is the most efficient way to manage someone’s health. Most healthcare today is “disease management” because people waited until something went wrong to be proactive about their health. Here at Finish Well Health Coaching, LLC, we believe in being proactive and living a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent disease in the first place. We want to live our best lives right now! We don’t want to lose mobility or independence later! We don’t want to be in a state of chronic pain and fatigue. We don’t want to spend our money on expensive treatments for ailments that could have been prevented. We would rather spend our money on vacations and spend more time with family and friends. We would rather spend less time sick and tired. Eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle costs money. But, so does living in a state of disease. You must choose which one you want to spend your money on. Choose wisely.
