I had heard all the warnings — cold immersion would be shock to my system, painful, and something I’d instantly regret. But when I stepped into the 42 degree lake, the expected panic never came. As we got deeper into the water, the challenge grew… but so did the accomplishment.
Beyond the mental and physical challenge, cold immersion has incredible benefits for almost every system of the body. From boosting the immune system to advancing recovery; and even mimicking the effects of deep REM sleep. The science behind it is fascinating.
